The Lake District is a
spiritual place, and the air seems freshest in spring, and there is still a
little snow on the mountains as well as new flowers in the patchwork fields and
valleys. Mountains are humbling for
their sheer endurance and their size; throughout human creation we have been
awe-struck by staying-power and big things, they have a kind of beauty since they reaffirm and reassure us somehow.
