Necessary Equipment

The cat

Fell from the tree:

Not having the necessary equipment –

Like legs, paws, and claws –

With a splat.

God

God is the creator

God is omnipotent

God is vengeful

God is wrathful.

God is all-knowing

God is infinite

Yet

God is a little fairy

(not in the pejorative sense):

God needs you to believe in him

To be real.

Pound of Flesh

Agnes gritted her teeth

Against the feeling of faintness

(due mainly to the blood loss)

And the pain.

She managed a smile, even,

As the weight-loss class leader

Invited Agnes to step on the scales,

Having taken her pound of flesh.
